The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And your garments do purify, 4 stay away from sins 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 Scorching the skin. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
