The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 and purify your robes, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
