The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 arise and warn, 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And children present [with him] 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
