Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 a warning to mortal man 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As if they were startled donkeys - 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
