By the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 a warning to humans, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 About the criminals, 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
