The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, 15 crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
