The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
