The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. 10 And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, 11 And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 from a spring named salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
