Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 1 Then by oath of those that push with a strong gust. 2 and by the scatterers scattering (rain) 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 and those hurling a reminder 5 to serve as an excuse or a warning. 6 Surely that which ye are promised will befall. 7 So when stars are effaced. 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are carried away by wind. 10 And when the time comes for messengers to meet -- 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 For the Day of Sorting out. 13 Would that you knew what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 15 Did We not destroy the former peoples? 16 We will now cause the later ones to follow them: 17 This is how We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 which We then placed in a secure repository 21 For a certain appointed time, 22 Thus have We determined [the nature of man's creation]: and excellent indeed is Our power to determine [what is to be]! 23 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 24 Did We not make the earth a receptacle, 25 Of the living and the dead? 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 28 'Depart unto that which ye were wont to belie. 29 "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 unshading against the blazing flame 31 and throwing up sparks as huge as towers 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses. 36 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! 39 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 40
