The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
