The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
