The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
