۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They said: we found our fathers the worshippers thereof. 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) but the biggest of them, that they might turn (and address themselves) to it. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 Some among them said, “We heard a youth speak ill of them – the one called Ibrahim.” 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 "No," he said. "It was done by that chief of theirs. Ask him in case they can speak." 63 So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said, "Burn him to ashes if you want to help your gods". 68 We said to the fire, "Be cool and peaceful (with Abraham)". 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 and We saved him and Lot and brought him to the land upon which We had bestowed Our blessings for all the people of the world. 71 And We bestowed him Ishaq, and Yaqub the grandson; and We made all of them worthy of Our proximity. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We revealed unto them the doing of good deeds and the establishment of prayer, and the giving of poor-rate; and of Us they were the worshippers. 73 AND UNTO Lot, too, We vouchsafed sound judgment and knowledge [of right and wrong,] and saved him from that community which was given to deeds of abomination. [We destroyed those people - for,] verily, they were people lost in evil, depraved 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
