The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
