The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
