The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
