The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
