The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 and gently take it away; 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
