He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
