He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
