He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he feareth 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then made his passage easy; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 fruits, and grass. 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
