He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him thou attendest 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
