The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
