The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 For a Great Day? 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what do you know, how wretched the Sijjeen is! 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, "Stories of earlier men!" 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A written record, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
