۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 when he said to his father and his people, 'What are these statues unto which you are cleaving?' 52 They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They said, "Have you brought us the truth or are you jesting?" 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 They said: Who hath done this to our gods? Surely it must be some evil-doer. 59 They said: We heard a youth called Ibrahim speak of them. 60 They said, 'Bring him before the people's eyes; haply they shall bear witness.' 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 "No," he said. "It was done by that chief of theirs. Ask him in case they can speak." 63 They then turned to themselves, and said: verily ye it is who are the wrong-doers. 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 He said, "Do you, instead of God, worship things that can neither harm nor benefit you?" 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 But We said, "Fire! Be cool and a means of safety for Abraham." 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 And We brought him in unto Our mercy. Lo! he was of the righteous. 75
