He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 Mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
