He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And he feareth 9 You neglect. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
