He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he feareth 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
