And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
