He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 to a rich man, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And hath fear, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
