The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 a written record, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On couches, gazing, 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
