He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fearfully, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olives and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruit and grass - 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
