He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 lofty and pure, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
