He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
