The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And the close of night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
