Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In high empyrean 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 And not known my account! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
