The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars fall, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
