The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And the breath of morning 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
