The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas rise, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
