The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 that hide, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
