The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the breath of morning 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
