The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
