The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
