In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Prayer at night leaves the strongest impression on one's soul and the words spoken are more consistent. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
