The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
