The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
