The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Will pray for death, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
