The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
