The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a Great Day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
