The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
