The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
